In a culture that constantly tells women that they are “enough” and only need to love themselves more, Allie Beth Stuckey offers a unique and refreshing refutation to the “toxic culture of self-love”, arguing instead that we are not enough, but that’s okay—because Jesus is enough for us. This book personally helped spark my interest in learning deeper theology and ultimately brought me back to the faith after years of living in the darkness!

 Alisa Childers

 After sitting through a “Bible study” course with a progressive pastor (i.e. a wolf in sheep’s clothing), Alisa Childers nearly had her faith destroyed as she began to question everything she thought to be true about Christianity. By the grace of God, she began to discover Christian apologists who presented solid evidence for why we believe what we do, and Childers shares those same points in her book Another Gospel? to equip believers to stand against the lies of progressive “Christians”.  

J. Warner Wallace

 J. Warner Wallace was an atheist for most of his life, dismissing Christians as unsophisticated people who believed in a myth. He prided himself in being very rational and evidence-based since his line of work was in solving cold cases as a homicide detective. He decided one day to use his skills as a cold case detective to examine the gospels of the New Testament and determine whether they stood under scrutiny. When all was said and done, he realized that there was undeniable evidence for the resurrection of Christ and the validity of the gospel accounts of Jesus’ life. Cold-Case Christianity shares Wallace’s own testimony in addition to presenting evidence for the reliability of the gospels and historicity of the resurrection of Christ using the tactics he used when solving cold cases.   

J.I. Packer

 In a beloved classic that has impacted the lives of many evangelical Christians, J.I. Packer goes through the attributes of God, explaining His character and what that means for us as believers. There is nothing more important for a Christian than to know God, and this book aids in explaining what scripture says about our glorious Creator. So much peace and joy can be found in understanding who your God is and knowing what He has revealed about Himself. 

C.S. Lewis

A fictional novel organized as a series of letters sent by the senior demon Screwtape to his demon nephew named Wormwood, The Screwtape Letters is a classic by C.S. Lewis that challenges Christians to reflect upon their walk with the Lord and how it might be viewed by our spiritual enemies. The book brings to light areas of our life of faith that may need admonition while also reminding us of how mindboggling it is that the glorious God of creation would love sinful, fallen human beings like us. I absolutely loved this novel and could not recommend it enough!

James R. White

By organizing the book as a series of letters written to a fictitious Mormon missionary named Elder Hahn, James White lays out the evidence against the teachings of Joseph Smith both from a Biblical standpoint as well as a historical one in a casual and easy-to-digest manner. With numerous citations to direct quotes from past Mormon authorities and resources, White sheds light on the many unbiblical, and quite frankly blasphemous, doctrines of the Mormon cult while also providing scripture to build a case for the truth of historic, orthodox Christianity. I have benefitted immensely from this book in my witness to Mormons and could not recommend it enough!

 Pastor Mike Winger’s ministry has been the greatest help for me in learning more about the Lord and growing in my faith. His long, in-depth Scripture studies as well as his weekly Friday night Q&A are incredibly informative and educational. He also has several verse-by-verse study series on his channel where he teaches from the New Testament books of Mark, Romans, and 1 Peter, in addition to carefully prepared and researched refutations to false teachers. Pastor Mike’s goal is to help viewers to learn to think biblically about all things so I cannot recommend his YouTube channel enough!

Melissa Dougherty is an ex-New Ager who came to the truth of Christianity after encountering Jehovah’s Witnesses who inspired her to research her own beliefs and understand why she believes what she says she believes. As someone who claimed to be a Christian while holding to New Age beliefs, Melissa’s research brought her to the truth of Scripture and shed light on the fact that she was in a system of unorthodox, false beliefs masquerading as Christianity. She now seeks to warn the church of these deceptive New Age practices creeping into the church in America today (in addition to making great satirical skits), and her ministry has been incredibly eye-opening for me. Check out her videos to equip yourself against false New Age teachings and learn about the true beliefs of the Christian faith.

Alisa Childers is a former member of the Christian girl group ZOEgirl, popular back in the late 90s and early 2000s. After almost falling away completely from the faith she had grown up in after unknowingly joining a progressive “church”, Alisa sought to find out whether Christianity really is true and if the Scriptures we have today are reliable. Her research has cemented her faith and now she seeks to equip the saints with the same apologetics content that she learned when wrestling with her faith. Her book Another Gospel? A Lifelong Christian Seeks Truth in Response to Progressive Christianity details her journey to finding the truth and shares many helpful bits of information to prove the validity of the Christian faith. She often brings on guests on her YouTube channel to further discuss important topics and offer resources to the church to be equipped with the facts.

Doreen Virtue is an ex-New Age guru and best-selling author who wrote often about mystical spirituality practices. Under the deception that what she was doing was biblical, Doreen wrote books, produced angel cards, and traveled the world to spread her false teachings on New Age practices before she was convicted of the truth and discovered that her divination practices were abominable to the Lord. She has since repented and been saved by the grace of God, and she also implores all people to burn any of the books or products she has released in the past. Through her online ministry, Doreen warns Christians of the deceptive practices of the New Age and brings on guests to discuss various topics related to this mysticism/sprituality.  

Pastor John Barnett of Discover The Book Ministries (DTBM) frequently uploads lecture-style videos on YouTube, where he discusses deep theological topics as though you were sitting in a seminary course. He teaches everything from church history, fulfilled prophecy, eschatology, etc., and his videos are both long and very educational as he takes difficult subjects and delivers them in a way that is easy to understand. Pastor John has an obvious passion for studying the Scriptures, and you will find that you learn a lot from just hearing him talk about God’s word.

Apologia Studios is home to a wide range of Christian content and podcasts, including Cultish, where they dissect different types of cults pretending to fall under the umbrella of Christianity; Apologia Radio, where the hosts discuss issues of theology, culture, and politics; and sermons from Pastors Jeff Durbin and James White, all from a theologically reformed perspective. The YouTube channel also frequently uploads on-the-street evangelism videos where they witness to Mormons or protest abortion mills. 

Ray Comforts of Living Waters is an absolute superstar in the world of street evangelism. With his charming New Zealand accent and friendly demeanor, Ray shares the gospel with countless strangers on the streets of California and inspires other believers to do the same. His iconic question, “Do you think you’re a good person?” leads the interviewees to be confronted by their sin as Ray uses the ten commandments as a standard by which they can judge themselves. After confronting people of their sins, Ray shares the good news of Christ by explaining that Jesus is the only way out of this mess. I could not recommend his channel enough. The work his ministry does is outstanding!

Although Dr. Gavin Ortlund is a reformed protestant and senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Ojai, his channel primarily tackles issues of church history, differences between biblical Christianity and historical traditions, the accretions of the Roman Catholic church, etc. He handles incredibly complex and nuanced issues with a lot of grace and patience, and I owe it to him for taking difficult topics and making it digestible for an ordinary person like me who is not a scholar. His goal is the approach theology and apologetics with an irenic focus of uniting over the truth between the different denominations and sects rather than dividing over minute differences.

Jon McCray originally made videos refuting popular atheist memes online before shifting the focus of his channel to addressing cultural issues from a Christian perspective. Jon did not grow up in a Christian household, nor were his early experiences going to a church a very positive one. But he was hungry for the truth, and that eventually led him straight to Christ. He now uses his knowledge of apologetics and theology to address criticisms of Christianity from popular cultural figures and offer sound refutations.

Apologia Studios is home to a wide range of Christian content and podcasts, including Cultish, where they dissect different types of cults pretending to fall under the umbrella of Christianity; Apologia Radio, where the hosts discuss issues of theology, culture, and politics; and sermons from Pastors Jeff Durbin and James White, all from a theologically reformed perspective. This channel is run by a church planted in Utah, the heart of Mormonism, by Apologia Church in Utah to reach the LDS people with the true gospel of the true Christ. Apologia Church Utah uploads videos of their street evangelism and church sermons, and even began a new series of answering difficult questions people have in regard to the Bible and theology. I have been greatly blessed by their street evangelism videos, and I highly recommend their channel for anyone who is a fan of Apologia Studios.  

 Solange was a devout Mormon for most of her life, even serving a mission to spread her faith. However, when she began to discover the dark history of the LDS church and how starkly different LDS teachings are from those of the Bible, she left Mormonism and came to true saving faith in the real Christ. She now dedicates her online ministry to exposing the false teachings of Joseph Smith and spreading the truth about the Jesus of the Bible.  

 Founded by ex-Mormons Jerald and Sandra Tanner, Utah Lighthouse Ministry is a bookstore located in Salt Lake City that provides many resources to expose the lies of Mormonism. Sandra Tanner is a descendent of Brigham Young and her husband Jerald is also a generational Mormon. But upon learning the mountains of evidence against the LDS church, they both left Mormonism to come to true saving faith in the real Christ.
